How to Compress for Google Drive

  1. Choose your use case: Uploading to a personal folder can be larger (1–2 MB). Sharing with a team or embedding on a website? Compress to 600–1000 KB.
  2. Adjust max width: For personal backup, 1600 px is usually fine. For shared work, 1200 px or less speeds up downloads on mobile.
  3. Set quality to 75–80%: Google Drive's preview generation re-compresses anyway, so starting from a well-compressed image is most important.
