Quick Example: Before & After

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Take or upload a clear passport photo. The photo should have a white or light gray background, your face centered, and a neutral expression. Smartphone photos work fine if the background is plain.
  2. Open this tool. Drag and drop your photo or click to select it.
  3. Resize to 35×45 mm (413×531 px). Enter 413 in the width field. The tool will automatically scale the height to 531 px (preserving the aspect ratio if needed). If you took a square selfie, a small crop may be needed on the sides.
  4. Reduce quality to 85%. This keeps excellent detail and meets the 50 KB file size limit. At 85% quality, the difference from 100% is not visible.
  5. Choose JPEG format. JPEG is the standard for passport photos. PNG will be larger and is not recommended.
  6. Download. The compressed, resized photo is ready. It should be around 45 KB.
  7. Verify the size. Right-click the downloaded file and check "Properties." It should show a file size under 50 KB. If it exceeds 50 KB, recompress at 80% quality.
  8. Upload to government portal. Submit to ANTS (passport), ANTS (CNI), or your country's visa application system.
